Strawberry Shortcake
1 quart fresh strawberries cleaned & halved
1/2 tsp. Lemon, orange or lime zest
2 TB Golden Fig flavored sugar
1/4 C. heavy cream ...Cedar Summit Farms heavy cream is our FAVORITE! (+ more cream to whip for topping if so desired)
6 shortcakes or 6 slices angel food cake
In medium bowl, mash together berries, zest & sugar. Let sit for 10 minutes. Stir in heavy cream & spoon over shortcake, angel food cake, ice cream etc.
Whip any extra cream with a bit more flavored sugar & you have a divine topper for your dessert.
